Our Sightseeing Treasure Hunt celebrates its first birthday

Our Málaga Sightseeing Treasure Hunt is now at the tender age of 1 year and the first year was an incredible adventure. One that we look back on without regrets, only lessons and great moments to share. We are here today starting into our second year, hopefully filled with meeting new and inspiring people from all over the world in Málaga (a city we had fallen so much in love with).

WE WANT TO TELL YOU HOW IT ALL BEGAN

In 2015 we, Elizabeth and Matthias had many small past successes after studying outdoor education, social pedagogy, and psychology with lots of delightful years abroad in Málaga, Granada and Valencia. Beyond the academics, we felt, that there was a small idea sown in our heads.

An idea that tastes like an adventure and smells like childhood....
As we loved going geocaching in our free time especially when we traveled places we haven´t been before.

We noticed, that all the short city breaks lacked when it came to discovering this new city in a way, we imagined. Of course, there were the typical free walking tours, where a guide tells the same stories all day long, Segway tours and bicycle tours that make you feel beeing on a giant slalom and the Hop on Hop off buses, that just take you to overcrowded tourist attractions.

And somehow we felt that we have a solution. A seed became a small plant and our idea became a business plan, which was a big challenge regarding that we haven´t studied anything related to business. But we learned that in Málaga, there was a lot of help provided by different European programs and so our plant got more water and slowly grew.

We felt confident that geocaching and looking for hidden clues in a new city is the most fun and greatest thing to really get connected to a city.... Remember the days back to your childhood and warm summer evenings outside scavenger hunting. That was where the magic happened. And our idea makes these days coming back again – Not with a piece of chalk but with pitter-patter hearts and equipped with a modern compass (Thank GPS!)

After working endless days and sleepless nights on our little project, looking for places in Málaga to fall in love with, working with locals to have great insights and approvement to what we are doing, working on each and every part of the sightseeing treasure hunt in Málaga to become the greatest experience travelers in Málaga could imagine.

And then in September 2016 the first traveler group, a traveling family from Berlin joined our tour. Since then every tour became our happy place. Each tour with happy clients is motivating and inspiring at the same time!

This year we hope for our plant that it becomes blossoms and that our little project becomes more than just a dream...

Create holiday memories in Málaga

Our i cachr treasure hunting tour in Málaga is running since a few months now and it already made a lot of holiday makers curious and happy.
When we began to work on the project one year ago, we didn´t know, where it leads us and know we are superpleasent that traveling people of all ages take the chance to try something different and take the plunge to do a fun sightseeing treasure hunt with i cachr Málaga.
Discovering a city doing a sightseeing treasure hunt is new for everyone who joins and enjoys it. It is a new and different way to explore Málaga far from over crowded guided city  tours, where the guides tell the same old stories all day long - on our tour, people write their own Málaga story, wander the streets of Malaga at their own pace - lead by the golden compass and their treasure book, discovering the must sees and corners off the beaten track, look for hidden hints and solve small riddles to find the individual secret treasure of Málaga at the end of their sightseeing treasure hunt.

We want to share the last months photo impressions and thank our treasure hunting groups for the touching feedbacks that motivate us to continue the path of treasure hunting here in Málaga.

"Truly an extraordinary way to discover Malaga! Not only was this a fantastic city tour at our own pace but it also included such amazing elements as treasure hunting and exploring places that we would likely never find otherwise. Malaga is a beautiful city worth spending time in and getting to know. We got to see some wonderful little corners around the city, taste and experience art, culture, cousine and so much more! It was even possible to tour with three young children who had ton of fun exploring each new destination, solving the clues and working towards the discovery of a treasure! This was a memory that will not be forgotten!!"

Thank you Anna & Family, Bratislava

The end of summer or a magic dwells in each beginning

This year the i cachr team already endured a cold winter without any heating in the apartement (not accostumed to the cold even though we spent the winters of our lifes snowball fighting in Germany) and a hot summer, we faced with tons of pistachio ice-cream and cold pyjamas from the freezer.

Now Málagas to-hot-to-get-to-sleep-so-you-have-to-go-out-for-a-drink-and-a-TREASURE HUNT - nights cool down to warm and windy end of summer nights.
The Malagueños and the travelers in Málaga enjoy the beautiful light wich immerses the city into a postcard scenery, while autumn is already in the starting blocks, ready to take some leaves to the ground.

Great rebalanced end of summer climate + Holidays in Málaga = Just perfect for a City Treasure Hunt with i cachr!

Life of a treasure hunter in Málaga

The small things ....

the i cachr Málaga city tour project is based on a idea that leads back to our childhood and warm summer evenings outside savenger hunting. When we grow older we finally get adapted to early morning and summer evening routines, that take us far away from the desire to take our friends and some chalk to go out for a exciting treasure hunt.

Geocaching - Back to the roots!

in the past years a new worldwide trend is awaking the inner childs of adults on this earth - Geocaching!
...and the i cachr team also let their inner child come out and play! With pitter-patter hearts and equipped with a modern compass (Thank GPS!) we climb our ways through the hills around Málaga, caching small boxes hidden by other Geocachers and wander the streets in the historic centre of Málaga searching for so called micro caches that are so small, that they fit into a thimble!

... and now, tourists in Málaga cachr too! On their sightseeing treasure hunt with us!

i cachr in the News

Lately, we had a wonderful Tour and Interview with the writer Joanna Styles, the Blog author from Guide to Málaga. She published a nice insight article about us and our new different kind of Walking Tour in Málaga.
We have been so happy about seeing our little i cachr the first time in the press, that we went for ice cream in one of the nicest ice cream shops in Málaga - Casa Mira. If you go there you have to try Pistachio, Chocolate Belgica and Tarta de la Abuela (Grandmothers Cake)!

A different kind of Walking Tour is born in Málaga

Let our small spanish adventure begin...

We are a two creative heads and happy hearts from Germany, building up our life in Spain, more precisely in beautiful Málaga. One year ago we started revolving our whole world around our project idea, which we gave the name "i cachr" (which by the way already became our word of the year 2016).

After several months of being supported by local programmes like ProMalaga and CADE and our friends and families, we managed to build up our small company step by step and with all the passion we have, to enrich the holiday experiences of Málaga tourists with a new, modern and fun way to explore this wonderful spanish city.

At the middle of June 2016, we finally where ready to start our first real treasure hunting sightseeing tour in Málaga, knowing that 2016 will be a year full of surprises, wishes, work, sun and happy moments with happy tourists.
